Brogden - excellent cold hardy avocado easily identified by its’ purple skin. It is an excellent choice for guacamole lovers from New Orleans to Orlando.

Day Avocado – The Day avocado is green, smooth skin and is shaped like a club. The fruit is of very good quality and has a nice buttery consistency. The slender tree is very cold tolerant (to 22F degrees) The Day prefers full sun, adequate moisture and good drainage.

Winter Mexican Avocado – Mexican x West Indies cross. Fruit is small (12-16 oz.) and oval with dark green, rough skin. The tree is large, attractive, and very frost hardy (to 22º F). Bears productively Oct-Dec.

Florida Hass – While Hass from Mexico doesn’t like the humid climate of Florida, this particular tree produced fruits just like Hass and thrives in Florida. The tree will grow to 25 feet in about 15 years and does not need a pollinator. Florida Hass has exceptional oil content, nearing 20%, which is the reason for its creamy texture and rich flavor.

Wurtz – is of Guatemalan race and was discovered in California in 1935. Fruit is small pear-shaped, with a large seed and rough green skin similar to California avocados. Wurtz has rich flavor and is of high quality. The tree is slightly dwarfed for an avocado, is cold hardy, and bears moderately but consistently in Nov-Dec.

Avocados – $30 – 7 gallon pot – 5 foot tall

Yamagata – Yamagata variety is very early. It ripens in Florida in March-April when no other varieties produce fruit. Can ripen over a long season, from March through July. Fruit is large, with a small seed and green skin. Flesh green, smooth, flavor nutty.

Monroe
– Grown commercially in the Miami/Homestead area. This variety is prolific, consistently bearing large fruits that mature in the fall. Flesh is of very good quality lacking the watery texture often found in other large fruited types. Monroe’s growth habit is upright, rather than spreading and is cold hardy to 26ºF. Monroe bears Nov-Dec.

Choquette – oval-shaped and large (24-40 oz.). Skin is glossy, smooth, and slightly leathery. The smooth flesh is of an excellent quality with 13% oil and a mild nutty flavor. Choquette is similar to Monroe in fruit size and quality; both are excellent choices for those interested in a very good-tasting, large ‘Florida pear’. The Choquette has an open, spreading growth habit. Freeze damage in established trees occurs around 26º F. Season is Nov-Jan. with heavy bearing in alternate years.

Nishikawa – Nishikawa variety of Avocado is originated in Hawaii. It’s a mix of Guatemalan and Mexican avocado type. Average cold hardiness. Ripen in December-January (in Florida), type B. Oval fruit is somewhat resemble Hass variety of avocado, but larger. Has very high oil content. Vigorous and upright growing tree.

Fuerte
– Avocado Fuerte, very cold hardy variety. Green fruit, elongated, 8-16 Oz. Skin slightly rough, thin, not adherent to flesh. Flesh green near skin, oil content 12-17%. Flavor excellent, buttery. Seed medium to large. Vigorous spreading tree with decidedly alternate year bearing habit. Ripens November to June. Often used for cocktail avocadoes.

Yellow fruit is shaped just like a star when sliced. They are best eaten fresh. They are also great in jams and as a fruit beverage. A mature starfruit can produce up to 200 lbs. of fruit a year! The attractive, fast growing tree prefers partial to full sun and loves moisture. Trees will grow to about 35 feet in 20 years.

Root Beer Plant – 1 gallon pots 1 foot tall $5 – 6 in stock

Known as Hoja Santa, this is a shrubby perennial to 6+ft. Grows best in part-shade or full-shade. Needs consistent and regular watering. Little other care is necessary. Flowers are long, skinny, white, and fuzzy looking. The leaves are chopped and used for flavoring, as well as used whole, as wrappings for meats, tamales, etc.

All are Brewster variety
Brewster or ‘Chen-Tze’ or ‘Royal Chen Purple’ is the most popular variety in Florida. Brought from Fukien, China between 1903 and 1906 by Rev. W. M. Brewster. A large upright, spreading tree to 40 feet with foliage. Flesh is white and crisp with a very sweet, perfumed flavor. The fruits are 1 1/2 inches, are round and are bright red when ripe. The red skin peals off to reveal a white flesh that is sweet.

Kilo White Guava – The fruit is very large (up to a kilogramm, hence the variety name), round, contains few seeds, and has soft white flesh when ripe. Guava is a good tropical fruit tree not fussy on the soil quality, and produces fruit year after year. It is relatively cold hardy. Requires regular watering. Great container plant, will fruit in a pot in small size.

Ruby Supreme
– The tree is cold hardy for a tropical fruit. It takes light freeze with no damage. Very reliable, heavy producer. Will fruit in container. Guava is a good tropical fruit tree not fussy on the soil quality, and produces fruit year after year. Requires regular watering.

Macadamia Nut – 10 gallon pots 5 foot tall $30

Tree shape is variable, can be pruned to convenient size. Leaves are dark green with prickly edges to 8″ long and 2″ wide in whorls of three. Small white flowers, 6 to 7 months from flower to nut. There is a leathery outer husk that splits open revealing the very hard-shelled nut, 1/2 to 1 in diameter. Delicious fresh nut, may be roasted and salted. Tolerates all Florida soils. Plant likes lots of water, will live through some flooding, as well as some drought once established. Season: September to December.

Obtained by crossing the Bicane and Hamburg Muscatel grapes, Italia (Muscat) is certainly one of the most popular varieties of table grapes in the world due to its appearance and flavor. Italia grapes have large, consistent fruit with a lovely golden-yellow color, and a delicate, pleasant musky flavor.

Negami Kumquat – Oval Kumquat is the Naga or Nagami kinkan of Japan. It is oblong, obovate or oval in shape. It has a relatively small number of segments (four to five) and contains 2 to 5 seeds. Nagami fruit have a deep colour and a distinctive flavour. Nagami is in season form October to January.

Dancey Tangerine – one of the oldest tangerine varieties known in Florida. Fruit are oblate to pear-shaped and of medium size. Peel is deep orange-red to red, smooth, glossy at first but lumpy and fluted later, thin, leathery and tough. Pulp dark-orange, of fine quality, richly flavoured. Matures in late autumn and winter.

Ponkan Tangerine
– ne of the oldest and most popular mandarin tangerines, thought to have originated in India. Ponkan is distinctive for its oblate shape, often having a short “collar” or neck. The sweet, tender, juicy flesh is pleasantly aromatic and has a rich, bright orange color. Fruit contains few seeds, ripens in December and January. The Ponkan tree is an upright grower, hardy to about 18-22F.

Sunracer Nectarine 5 gallon pot 5′ tall – $15


Low-chill. Produces well in Central Florida. Yellow semi-clingstone nectarine. Excellent nectarine flavor. Self-pollinating.

Gulf Beauty Plum 3 gallon pot 5′ tall – $15


Another University of Florida patented release. Richly sweet, small, red fruit. Heavy producer with excellent flavor. Needs a Gulf series pollinator. Ripens early May.

Persimmon – 7 gallon pot 6′ tall – $20


Fuyu is a heavy producer of fist-sized, tomato-shaped fruits. Crisp, sweet, and mild, this is the one that most reminds us of cantaloupe. The fruit can begin to be harvested as soon as the color comes up, usually around late October, and can remain on the tree for as long as two months.

DOUBLE – This beautiful Cavendish type has very wide, dark green leaves and produces a full sized fruit. Also called the Mahoi, the second generation produces multiple bunches of fruit, usually 2 but sometimes more. Height 5-6 ft.

PRAYING HANDS – Now here is a real eye popper. The fruit is fused together making each hand look like a baseball mit or hands in the praying pose. When completely ripe it is possible to separate the fingers to reveal a great tasting vanilla flavored banana. A must for the real banana enthusiast. Height 12-14 ft.

– Height 14-16 ft. the most popular and delicious lady finger bananas we have tasted. The mysore, from India is an important commercial crop for that area of the world. The shelf life of these delicious little morsels out last any other by several days. They are sturdy and fast growing.

CAVENDISH – Both the Dwarf (5 ft.) and Giant (7-8 ft.) varieties produce wonderful tasting fruit as does the others in the Cavendish sub-group. A vigorous grower with wide green leaves. One of the more common and popular growing varieties in the USA.

LACATAN – Both the Jamaican and cousin Philippine Lakatan are one of the Cavendish sub-group and produce a similar fruit in shape, texture and flavor. Only the height of the plants differ slightly; the Philippine has more red in the leaf margis and is a little taller. Both produce good sized bunches of fruit that has delicious flavor. Heights (J=12+ft. P=14+ft.)

GRAND NAIN – The commercial variety that you can buy in the grocery store. The purchased ones are good but when you grow it yourself and see how delicious this banana can taste you wonder what took you so long to try. These full sized fruit ripen rapidly, so be ready. They can give 40-60 pounds of fruit with ease. Height 6-8 ft.

RAJA PURI
– A very popular sturdy plant originating in India and becoming a favorite around the world. Due to the rapid growth and delicious taste of these 3/4 size fruit as well as cool tolerance they have won the hearts (and taste buds) of thousands.

PISANG RAJA – A wonderful Indian variety with a yellow-orange flesh and sweet delectable flavor. Once you have tasted this baby you’re hooked on this 14 ft. delicacy. Firm and delectable with an unforgettable taste.

ICE CREAM – A very beautiful, cool tolerant plant that produces a blue/green fruit with pure white flesh. The sweet creamy fruit is very delightful. Height 10-12 ft.
